I've been saving that photograph of the Big Blue Gorilla with "SALE" across his chest for just this moment -- for announcing a book sale. (I snapped the photo about a year ago from the passenger car seat.)
I did it! And though I haven't gotten the contract yet, it appeared in Publisher's Marketplace on May 17th, so it's public knowledge.
Good gravy, I've been wanting to say something for so long now, so it's great to go public! Here's the blurb:
"Amy Timberlake's PIGEON-SHOT, a classic coming-of-age story about a girl's quest to unravel the mystery of her sister's disappearance in frontier-era Wisconsin was sold to Joan Slattery at Knopf Children's by Steven Malk at Writers House."
Yay! Yay! Whoop! Yip! Yeah . . .
(Thanks to Kate Messner for congratulating me on the Publisher's Marketplace blurb -- I wouldn't have known it was public without her. And thanks to my agent, Steve. And a big thanks to Joan Slattery for loving the manuscript enough to buy it.)
