Nothing makes me happier
November 13, 2009
...than a letter from someone who's read one of my books. Seriously.
I got one a few days ago through this website:
My name is [name omitted]. I am 10 years
old and a grade 5 student...
in North Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
Our teacher... gave us an assignment
to do a book report on an interesting book
we had never read before. My grandpa had bought
the book ‘’ That Girl Lucy Moon ‘’ for me.
My teacher said it was a very good book to choose.
What I liked about your book was that
Lucy was very brave and did not give up.
I especially liked Zoë because she was a
good friend to Lucy, always loyal and helpful.
[Big chunk omitted because I don't want to give the ending away for those of you who haven't read it!]
Thank you for writing
a wonderful book.
I enjoyed reading it.
Sincerely,
I also heard from a parent this week that after reading The Dirty Cowboy, their child decided they wanted to play the dog and cowboy after a bath. The child sat on their pajamas and the parent had to try to get the clothes. Loved it!
Both of these made me really happy this week. And I love knowing that LUCY is being read in Canada! Yay!

Hi from Canada, Amy.
This year my 11 year old daughter and I have a "mother-daughter" book club. One of our first selections was That Girl Lucy Moon and -wow- what a rich, heart touching read. My daughter loves the book and hopes you have another book in the works. Thank you so much for sharing this story with the world! :)
Thanks! Wow! That's great to hear that you read the book at your book club. Yay! Thanks for posting!
And I am working on another story with a spit-fire kind of girl. I hope you like it! (No pub date yet...)
